I’m too Fallen to Tell You
Yaga Piątek, born in 2004 in Warsaw, is a Polish artist working with the concept of personality, identity and fear. She experiments with her own appearance and human figures as well as deformations to evoke emotions and experiences that are meant to simulate and deliver a selection of emotions.
In her work “I’m too Fallen to Tell You”, she was inspired by the series of self portrait media by Bas Jan Ader titled “I’m too Sad to Tell You”. Experimenting with her own appearance, and reflecting on her artistic process involving self portraits, she decided to reflect on her expressive photography taken in 2022 and brought them to light again, with a different perspective and outcome.
Anger, sadness, despair, joy, euphoria and confusion. These intense emotions of a fallen character who bears too many feelings and lives in the overwhelming environment trying to categorize, prioritize and control feelings. Failing in being herself she searches for a way to become everyone else losing the true identity, yet gaining a new one. The goal is to explore and share and create an unified moment that triggers your senses.
